Our client are a successful, local company who are looking to recruit an experienced Production Controller, responsible for their management, planning and production on a day to day basis.
About the role:
The Production Controller position is a very hands-on role, working in a well established factory. Production is planned on a weekly basis which can often change regularly as and when customers require. You will be working as part of a small management team so a team player who is prepared to get involved with various different tasks is essential. You will not only be responsible for ensuring that work is produced on time, but also that it is of good quality.
Key Responsibilities of the Production Controller:
To liaise with customers regarding work coming into the business and deadlines for the work to be completed.
To efficiently plan and manage the workload to ensure the work is produced efficiently and within the timescales required by the customer.
To manage the placement of staff within the factory to ensure efficiency of work is achieved and staff are allocated on jobs to meet the requirements of the production plan.
To act as a line manager for around 12-20 staff + agency workers.
To manage stock levels of materials to ensure there is enough stock to complete the production plan.
To meet with customers and suppliers as and when required to discuss and organise the details of work.
To be involved with the handling of quality concerns within the business.
To perform ad-hoc tasks which may be required.
To help with any additional tasks as required such as health and safety tasks, quality management, HR investigations, project management, sales & marketing etc. Essential skills:
Must have good communication skills, verbal & written and can communicate on different levels.
Need to be able to analytically plan tasks and re-arrange as and when factors change.
Must be comfortable managing people, with some form of supervisor/manager experience.
Must have a good level of IT skills.
Must be able to handle pressure and work in a fast-moving environment.
Must be a team player who is not afraid to get involved in new things if/when the business requires this.
Must be able to manage own time well. Desirable:
Quality control/management experience.
Familiar with Sage Software
